Which version of Isadora should I use?
Whichever one is most recent. Check the TroikaTronix forum to find out what the latest release is and use that. Mark Coniglio will list it as beta but you should use it anyway.

Why does Isadora crash when I open your actor?User actors can't be opened directly by Isadora. They need to be placed in a patch before they can be used and edited. I find it is best to add the user actor to the Global User Actor Folder, restart Isadora and add the actor to the patch. If Isadora is still crashing after you follow this procedure, you can contact me via the support form and I will do my best to figure out what the issue is but, in all likelihood, it is an issue that is specific to you and my ability to troubleshoot your problem may be limited.

Do I need the Core Video upgrade and/or Quartz Composer?
Some of my actors derive a portion of their functionality from Quartz Composer or QC Plugins via QC and those actors do require the Core Video upgrade and Quartz Composer. The description of the actor should specify whether this is requirement. If there is no mention of this being a requirement, then the actor should run fine on both Macs and PC regardless of whether Core Video or QC are installed.

The .zip I downloaded has three files in it. What do I do with them?Actors that integrate Quartz Composer functionality usually include three files in the download zip. In order for the actor to function properly, you will need to place them all in the proper folders and then restart Isadora.
One should be the actor itself. This goes in your Global User Actor folder.
One should be a .qtz file. This is a Quartz Composer patch and should go in your FreeFrames folder (Library/Application Support/FreeFrames).
One should be a .plugin file. This is a Quartz Composer plugin and should go in you Quartz Composer Plug-Ins folder (Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Plug-Ins).
